I bought a new Samsung 1 TB 860 EVO for $135 new off of Ebay. It was on sale right before Christmas with free shipping & no tax.

Boot to the internet partition. In disk utility, format the drive Mac OS extended journal if I remember correctly. Then download the OS. This’ll work quicker if you’re connected to Ethernet.

If you just want to clone your data that’s another option too. You can clone your current drive with carbon copy or super duper. In disk utility you can just write over the blank drive with your data after formatting the new Samsung.

I formatted, used ccc with an external HD bay and installed the SSD afterwards. Worked perfect.

Yeah I usually do clean install too and start fresh. All I do is add the music. Try not to clone old junk. That’s how you save space as well. Keep things clean.

i need some feedback from you experienced dudes. I do these upgrades all the time for friends as well. When you want to move the library from the music folder to the external, how are you guys accomplishing keeping the database structure within serato to use the moved music (not including the itunes library, just the standard serato crates).
