JBL SRX 835p vs RCF 745 MK4

Hey guys, I'm looking for a pair of tops that I can run standalone & get a great sound from, that I can also add some 18" subs for larger events & heavier dance tracks.

These two are about in the same price range & by all accounts both sound excellent. The 3-way seems like it should be more versatile & maintain clarity even when cranked due to the separate mid/low drivers, but the 2-way crosses over around 650 Hz leaving pretty much all the mids to the tweeter (with 4" VC!) so freeing up the woofer for the low frequency stuff.

I've not been able to hear these side by side & will likely not be able to before buying. Anyone have opinions or know of issues I may have overlooked?

Every review I’ve read comparing them favors the RCF

Probably worth it just for the lighter weight as well.

60x40 JBL VS 90x50 RCF and the extra 30 lbs and space taken up of the JBL would be the deciding factors for me as both will sound amazing. The JBL has a more capible input / mixer if that’s a requirement.

Personally I’d take the RCF.

I have both and would take the RCF over the JBL. Lighter weight, bigger HF driver, and smaller cabinet (in comparison) all make it winner

I have a Jbl srx815p and sometimes I want to upgrade to something smaller like a 12" or a lighter 15" but I dont want to sacrifice that power the srx have though..these jbls are pretty heavy....if I were to pick out of the 2 like you said I would get the rcf..

Only downside on the rcf they dont have a built in crossover...

get the RCF 745 MK4, I won't bother trying to convince you.

Thanks guys, sounds like a unanimous choice!

its just wood and has powercon conectors. None of which are very important to its sound.

but the rcf hdp 45a is bad ass but im not sure when it comes out. Watchwww.youtube.com

and the rcf nx45 also has the full grill so its better looking than the 745a mk4
djammin 11:13 AM - 31 January, 2019
Definitely agree the full grill is a better look & just seems like better protection for the speaker itself.

Don't think I can get the NX45 for the same price as the others (was looking at opened box) and it's not really a significant upgrade. But that HDP looks nice, although max SPL is still 133 dB. Will be interested to see what the street price is.

Their rep looked and sounded so excited to be doing that video. Maybe he should have went to Ben & Jerry's to cheer himself up.

I was looking at the NX not the 745 when I noted those numbers by bad. I’d take the NX over the 745 just for looks. Looks matter when selling your services. The HDP seems like a great combination of the 745 and NX series just don’t know when it will be available. If you can wait it’s probably worth checking them out first.
