Denon controllers now Allow music Streaming😎👌

DjSyndic8 6:45 PM - 21 May, 2019
Big announcement Denon will now enable streaming platforms on their wifi enabled controllers including the Prime 4.... I think Spotify and Apple music will be included this is a big move from Denon if they include apple and spotify,

You think they *SHOULD* is a fair statement. There is ZERO substance to thinking they WILL other than the fact you want them to.

THE FACTS:

Apple Music has not partnered with a single DJ solution.

Spotify has thus far been exclusive to Algoriddim

BOTH have gone after anyone who has tried to access their API (Apple>Megaseg & Spotify>Virtual DJ)..........

I agree. If this were to happen it would probably happen with Pioneer as they have the best selling units.

Pioneer has a midi controller that streams apple music and spotify.

Gotta pay attention to details. That is nothing more than the controller working with djay pro (Algoriddim) ......... as mentioned above and nothing new.

No it doesn’t - djay pro supports Spotify, no one supports Apple Music.

Pioneer’s phone dj program WeDJ only supports SoundCloud and the upcoming beatport streaming service.

This may be a contender for the most erroneous posts of 2019 :) teasing btw

I think the fact that new PIO controller is supported natively by Djay is their point.
deejdave 12:22 AM - 26 May, 2019
Does the fact that Djay has been natively supporting Pioneer controllers for over five years count? :)

i dont understand what's everyones obsession with trying to get streaming services in dj gear. i feel like theres definitely a huge gap in demographic and that this streaming stuff is aimed towards new younger dj's who dont own computers and just want to go straight into djing with whatever popular songs are on the "hot" playlist on these streaming services and not do all the work that us older dj's are used to.

Work like downloading all the music on our computers and having an actual copy of the song on our hard drives as opposed to just a link to a streamed file. if apple decided to shut down apple music or if any of the streaming websites tanked boom their goes all your music. do you really want to dedicate all that time to something like that?
deejdave 11:53 PM - 30 May, 2019
Streaming should be used as a supplement. Furthermore at the forefront of this knows there are ways to completely avoid the issue you speak of. Just a heads up I have Soundcloud, Tidal, Spotify, Amazon Music AND Deezer all SYNCed (90% minimum) to each other and the chances of ALL of them "tanking" are less than the chances of you losing all of your music on your HDD/s.

Lastly to point out the obvious this is the same argument presented by "veteran" DJ's years ago when music went digital (files) in the first place.

This is nothing but forward movement and even being a dj of over 20 years I choose to be at the front of it. TRUST there are some very real advantages to streaming.
djknowledge201 12:03 AM - 31 May, 2019
I get your points. As a fellow crate digger, I very much love keeping my records at home though I do remember when everything switched over. Obviously some advantages are getting exclusive releases on the fly while at a party. What are some other advantages you can think of?
deejdave 12:36 AM - 31 May, 2019
Having the library synced is a huge one. This is not JUST between streaming platforms (Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music etc.) but the real advantage of SYNCing is the fact that being the DJ Platforms (Traktor, Serato, VDJ, Djay Pro etc.) are all using said streaming solutions, all of your dj software libraries are synced as well............. well at least the streaming aspects.

Finding new music, adding to playlists and organizing library on the go is another.
Getting the music first (in many cases) is another.
Exclusives are another.
Having all the music for requests without cluttering your hard drive with music you do not intend to keep is another.
Being able to receive playlist links direct from customers (for candle ceremonies, dedications, etc.) is another.

I could go all day LOL. Truth be told I was not sold on the idea at first but it was the ridiculously low cost that made me decide what do I have to lose. I started with Pulselocker (original PL not recent Serato/PL) and didn't love it. Then came Spotify and this changed my mindset. Now I use pretty much all BUT Apple Music for both personal reasons and the fact they are all but useless in the professional arena.
djknowledge201 12:54 AM - 31 May, 2019
That’s funny cuz Apple Music is the one that I just recently signed up for lol. Yea I mean after having a close call with losing all my folders I get the important of having all Dj software recognizing at least iTunes. So in that sense even tho I hate Apple Music I was forced to use them since I’m able to scroll through songs on the go and then make them into playlists. However I still download the actual MP3 when I get home because if I. D.o.n.t have Apple Music anymore, there goes my library. And yes I know the probability of them all tanking at once is slim to none but. It’s not like I’m going to sign up for all of them to be able to bask in the benefit of having every streaming service available. I get your points. I really do. I probably came across a little harsh but it’s just. It’s like giving up ownership of the actual song and only being able to access the songs if u have a paid subscription. If that subscription is no more than there goes my music, and I’m not ok with that. Similar to losing hard drives yes but, we have cloud backups, physical backups and all sorts of ways to make sure that doesn’t happen. How is that possible with all the streaming services?
deejdave 12:58 AM - 31 May, 2019
Well the nature of a syncing service like soundiiz basically takes your entire library from one platform and syncs it to others. SO if you have Tidal and it tanks your library is still intact via Spotify or Deezer etc.
deejdave 12:58 AM - 31 May, 2019
And btw the syncing process is literally a one button press operation.
deejayfatcat 10:43 AM - 31 May, 2019
I agree with most of your points but I can’t see how exclusives are one of them. In the digital era nothing is exclusive. This is gonna come off as harsh, but the biggest benefit of streaming is not having to own disposable music. The turnover rate in just about every genre is insane these days. Imagine playing a rap track from 2-3 summers ago.

iTunes will release exclusives just as Spotify will and often times this will be before the record pools have them Youtube and the likes will have it but ............... yeah anyone who cares for their craft will not be ripping from YT.
