As department manager in the Dj department @ Guitar Center, I get allot of customers asking if serato is going to work natively with the CDJ2000/900's. I my self use Serato and have a pair of the CDJ2000's and Im getting a bit impatient on figuring out or trying to find out if it is possible or if is ever going to be possible to link both Serato and the CDJ2000 natively. Since Im on able to give customers a definite answer to them, they are actually considering using Traktor instead. I really don't want them to convert over, I just want a bit of info, so I know my self and to tell my customers that the wait will be worth it in the long run.
Thanks....

Native support is planned, but no dates are set (nor do Serato ever give any firm releases dates, it's ready when it's ready is their answer).

From what I hear/read though, Traktor's native support isn't all that great, noticeable platter (i.e. scratching) latency, numerous bugs and glitches. This is just my opinion, but I think this is why Serato is holding off, they are not quite satisfied yet with the performance.

I believe Pioneer is working on a firmware update for the 900s and 2000 regarding latency issues.

I tried them with the demo of Virtual DJ and had the same problems--the platter is not even close to being as responsive as with the timecode CD's with Serato. I appreciate Serato waiting to release native support until it can offer the same feel as CD's.

Im not so sure the 900 will ever be supported. I guess they have to support the 2000s or people will go to traktor. i have the 900s and things iv heard make me wonder if native support for them isnt going to happen. :( if they dont support them im leaving serato, may try rekordbox or go to traktor, something i dont want to have to do. why cant serato just confirm there both going to be supported and give me a rough idea when.

Serato cannot tell you yet because Pioneer is still changing and upgrading the firmware of those players.

Both companies are working on it and it will be released whenever the changes stop happening at the quick pace that is going on now.

As to the 900 not being included...not sure where you heard that from...certainly not from a reliable source.

They have developed rekordbox to a point now or at least almost where serato isnt really needed. you can play directly from it and use the full potential of the cdj (quantizing etc)! i have spoke with serato directly about the 900 being supported and they could not confirm that the 900 was definetly going to be supported, altho they were happy to tell me the 2000 was, so why would they say this??? anyone from serato can correct me happily :)

Ok I need to folow up on this I have been out of the loop for a bit.... Soooo did Serato ever come up with the update for the pioneers to work as a native control or what? Im starting to get use to DJing the old fashion way (by ear without graphics to help me) by just using a USB stick. Someone please give me heads up!!!
BriChi 11:39 PM - 27 July, 2010
yeah, you are definitely out of loop, LOL... Update the pioneers to the latest fw and download Serato public beta 2.1, native supoort for the 900/2000's is now in there. After the pioneer download you must go into the menu and change HID mode to advanced to control serato, good luck

Any idea if the official Serato 2.01 version will be finished or if it launches soon????
BriChi 3:43 PM - 2 August, 2010
it will be finished, just not sure when. Once they start with release candidates like they did last week, it is usually pretty close to final by a couple of weeks
