So as usual, I have a gig and they are requesting this stuff. Can anyone recommend the essential Baile bangers or anything I should be playing?

Machuka is a bastardized version of a baile funk song. Baile Funk is a lot like baltimore club music. Similar drum loops in most songs and a lot of them are just remixes of existing songs. It won't be easy to find a lot of them overnight, but I recommend checking out some of the songs by DJ Sani Pitbull. He also does a great live remix show.

who god you are getting into favela and baile funk. You might be way in over your head. Its a dope ass shit but its all in portuguese. Spanish girls love this shit especially when there are crazy drunk. Anyways there are no bangers really just get the stuff and play it. Here are few artist to look up.

Dj Edgar- Flamengo
Crookers - Soca Ali Baba
DJ Sandrihno - anything by him
Voltair - cleck cleck boom

There is alot of it out there. Itunes even has some. They even have sample packs so you can now baile funk any song you like that in that range.

I usually turn down gigs that I am not familiar with the music. I recently turned down a corporate gig in NYC for great money because the client wanted music like "Saint Vincent's". I looked it up and realized I had nothing in that genre. I wasn't about to purchase 50-75 tracks of a genre that wouldI never play again.

I called the client and told them what I thought and they were thankful for the honesty.

my 2 cents

lol

anyway, baile funk as samples was early based off a few sources, but i think its more about the programming or at least thats what the link you provided was. I remember it getting big in 05-07. Honestly its gonna help if you know Portuguese, but im sure there are some youtube vid.

i know the drums were originally based of a few sources, but most of those were chopped on a MPC. look up headhunter by front 242

Itunes actually has a great selection!of baile funk tunes that are relelvant. I got samples from there back 09 when I was playing latin gigs and the dominican and colombian girls loved that stuff. They made some good remixes of popular songs but with baile funk samples during that year to you should be able to dig it up on soundcloud for free.
