Hi

Ive recently found a problem happens when using key lock.

this happens when im djing using pioneer cdjs 1000 mk3's.

I always have the key lock buttin in serato set to on.

I find it very useful.

Its been fine yet all of a sudden recently it doesnt work right. Before when i am using the jog wheel to speed up or slow down a track to beat match it the track would do just that, speed up or down with out it being obvious.no matter how fast or how much i turn the jog wheel.

This is hard to explain but now ive noticed sometimes when im speeding it up a touch for example, or to be more accurate giving it a momentary "push" i get a sound which is hard to explain but it kinda sounds like when ur using vinyl and you push a bit too hard when speeding it up for a second to get "on the beat" of the track your mixing into - you get that kind of slurred sound (if its a vocal track for example).

sorry if this doesnt make sense but i dont know how else to explain it.

This happens on my cdjs at home and in the club.

WHat has happened it used to be fine?

Any ideas? im using sl3 with scratch live, 2.3.0 and a macbook.

Any ideas would be helpful cheers,

Its especially an issue if mixing an acapella into an inst for example.

Thanks

You don't have the master tempo/key lock option engaged on the CDJ, do you?

Instead of keeping the pitch of the audio the same, when you move the jogwjeel, the pitch increases or decreases similar to how regular vinyl would sound when doing the same thing?

Is that the issue?

This was something I was working with lately. A user had an older natively supported numark unit and when he would pitch down to anything -50 or more, the pitch would be effected despite have the pitch lock on.

It's always been the case for scratching, the pitch will be effected during the scracth. The other scenario however I brought up to Serato and they are looking into it.

It's a sign for you to stop using key lock, as all DJs should :p
