Now that both controllers have been out for a while. Which one is better and is more reliable?

I have both.
They are equally reliable if you have a decent computer.
The 380 only has Itch right now, which is limited compared to the Serato DJ software, but the 380 will be getting a free upgrade to that soon.
Which is better, depends on your needs.
The SX is a massive 4-deck behemoth, the 380 is nice and compact.

Why do you have both? I have been reading about drop outs and serato crashing from mostly people that have decent computers. I never had issues using scratch live so I'm a little nervous switching over but I need something more portable.

I have both too. Cant really properly compare without Serato DJ being available for VCI380.
I enjoyed the first VCI300. The 380 is definitely a major upgrade.
No major issue with SL or Itch and I still use both.
I have not seen any issue with Serato DJ.

These are two different controllers. One is a small 2 ch and the other is a large 4 ch.
I think it comes down to portability. If you need something backpack size get the 380 or the 400.
If size isn't an issue I would go with the sx or the ns7 mk2.

How about sound quality between the two? Also, is the mic input better on the VCI? The SX mic input sucks.

VCI380 has 2 mic inputs; xlr and 1/4 and is a vast improvement over the VCI300 with its mic sound delay.
VCI300 and 380 did not have dedicated Mic EQ
DDJSX has dedicated EQs and "ducking" mic talk over.
I am no hype man or an MC so all I can say is that both DDJSX and VCI380 works for simple announcement.
Also, I prefer to use an external mixer since sometimes I do karaoke. Using an external mixer is definitely a lot better than using the mics on both Controllers.
