No one stands there in the middle of their club set going I'm gonna be posting this online, so I had better do such and such, or make a track listing or other DJs are gonna critique this etc.

We all get asked what remix we just played all the time. Its no biggy. Everweek some limewire kiddy asked what version of such and such that was.

And I'm gonna throw a bold statement out there. I actually can't think of that many places a set like that by another DJ would work. It works for him cus it's his style, he's known for mixing genres up like that.

DJs appriciate it cus of what it is, it's something not too many others are doing as well as he is doing it. And cus we know it's a litte different/harder than spinning a simple hip hop set, or house set.

Honestly, you act like he finds a lot of this stuff himself. A ton of is it coming from other dj's, producers, etc. People throw shit at him, and he rocks it if he does.

The mere fact that he does a bunch of really narly shit with different acapellas and instruments is nuts.

I don't think it sucks. I'm actually glad shit isn't the way it was back in the day where you had to have a copy of a copy of a copy of a cassette to hear something hot from far away (unless you bought it from somewhere far away from "home"). I think it's hot that I can listen to Scottie B's mix from when he was in LA. I hear him when he's home, but it's nice to know what gets done in other parts of the world. I like it being open. It kinda forces you to step your game up. It opens up you and everyone else listening and it gives those producers a broader audience. I mean if I was making wacky songs I thought a small group of people in one club would like on this "special" night and found out people all over the world are asking for my shit, it would blow my mind.

I do track listings to help out other DJs. I don't want someone to have to dig hard like I did to find the names of some of these tracks. Let them learn what we did so they can pick up where we left off and take it a step further. Plus, it helps me to get used to seeing the "text" of a particular song rather than the record label or sleeve. The game has changed, so I have to adjust my mind accordingly.

As for biting, it has been done and it will always be done. It's one of the elements of how we got where we are today. Some people are original. Those that are usually stand out from the crowd. Bite if you want, but what's gonna make YOU different?

The track listing is not for someone to go out and duplicate the mix, it's for someone to get the track and throw it in their own mix, or maybe not even mix at all, just pump the track in ya hondas or your bimmaz or your legend or your benz.

AM definitely has his own style, and the homie is just nuts! But you need to also look at the venue and the crowd. The crowds at Banana Split are there to have a good time and shake their ass! That's the problem with a lot of crowds nowadays, they just want to look cool and just shake to the tracks they know. F that... just shake to whatever and have a good time! If AM had dropped a set like this at Studio B when he played alongside The Rub, Pase Rock, Stretch Armstrong, Them Jeans and Roctakon, everybody would've been going crazy too. The crowd was there to just lose it! That's the way it SHOULD be. And that's the way most of us lose it when we hear this mix.

I was there, and everybody was going crazy. He killed it that night, and proved to everyone that venturing off to brooklyn can be alot better/less strenuous than waiting in line with 5 other cocks in meatpacking...hoping that you don't have to buy a bottle to get in.
