But, I play whatever. Sometimes I'm so tired of playing and hearing the same crap I play a nice hip hop song just for me. Sometimes, a slow jam, just whatever I feel like at that time.

last night i played Ziggy Marley "Tomorrow People" and followed u with "Closing Time" i think its by semisonic.

I like that happy trails though, i'll have to figure it out. i do like to change up the genre though, it throws a twist on the night and it helps the shock of going from 100 to 0

I hear KaGeN mixes at 30 BPM. Maybe he can help you out with some of those transition tracks.... ;-)

i have a residency, they make me end with two slow songs which end at the exact moment our liquor license for the day does. when im rocking a party, its usually the cops that end the night, or ill just keep playing until everyone leaves, thats your cue to wind down the night. just throw in a few slow ones and send em home.

if its anything ive learned about the people that come to my bar, its that they like singalongs. santeria, sweet caroline, the gambler, etc. but ive heards of places that rock the crowd into a frenzy at the end of the night and just dump the people into the street. expect a fight or 2.

I got shut down by the cops last Sat. The stage manager told me to throw on one last track to wind it down. My choice?

Shit homie, I am almost 100% with you on that one.

Thing is, though, that it really depends on the crowd. I find myself playing rancheras or Tragos at a Latino family or college party. Other than those, I just use the whole night as a clue as to what the last song should be.

It almost always is a slow tempo song, though. I read somewhere that if you play a high octane song at the end, it may make it more likely that ppl leave with more energy than if a slow tempo song was played, thus making it more likely for fights to break out.

True about the high octave (octane) song at the end and yes, Latino crowds only (especially if you know there are some Mexicans in the bunch), but I have a 15 minute mix that I play that has Tragos Amargos, Volver Volver, El Rey, Sabor a Mi and other classics that get people either crying and slow dancing or both.
