How to move Serato folder to different HDD?

carnage 2:57 PM - 20 February, 2015
I initially started using SDJ on my 256 SSD, but soon had to start using my larger internal HDD. i have now re-organised and cleaned my whole library and have it all on the HDD.

I therefore want to have my _Serato_ folder on the HDD.

unfortunately things like my FX favourites list, and MIDI mapping xml are stored in the _Serato_ folder on my SSD.

Can i just delete my _Serato_ folder that is on my HDD (from before) and just copy across the _Serato_ folder etc from the SSD?

Thanks

COPY THEN RENAME OLD _Serato_ folder TO "_Serato_OLD"

Do not delete until you've used the new drive for long period of time and you're absolutely positively 100% sure that it's working properly. If for some reason you find a problem you can always go back to the old folder just by removing the letters "OLD".

YES, just copy across the _Serato_ folder etc from the old to new drive.

Use "relocate lost files" if any file does not play on new drive.

In theory you'd think that would work but i tried it a couple or days and it doesn't.

Even with no music on the primary ssd serato created a folder there.

I've had to leave the serato folder on the ssd as that is where the midi and fx data is kept by Serato. Plus more.

You'll always have a _Serato_ folder on the hard drive that serato is installed on in addition a folder on each drive that you import music from. Just the nature of the design. All the MIDI presets and other setting will be stored on the internal drive serato is installed on. Hope that helps
