Beat grids

MrFreeze 9:09 PM - 25 February, 2015
Ok pulling my hair out here, Ive watched all the how to videos on how to correctly edit beat grids so I go to edit a transition, get it all edited so its bang on then hit save and everything changes getting frustrated, am I missing a step?
DJ Compiler 9:20 PM - 25 February, 2015
Make sure that the beat grid is how you want it through the whole song and then hit enter on your keyboard.

It may not be that its saving wrong but that the way you set it is only right in one part of the song.

If you don't mind make a video of you going through the process and post it here so we can see what all is going on. Might be a minor detail in there that sheds light on the problem.

Hmmmm ok I been hitting save instead Ive never hit enter I will try that, and not sure on how to make a video of the process on here, but ill google it lol thanks :)

If you can't make a video just walk me through what you do to get your beat grids right.

Using enter is the same as using save but it wouldn't hurt to try just incase the software is somehow misinterpreting the location of your mouse click.

Another thing that I thought of is you need to make sure your music files are not read only
MrFreeze 9:58 PM - 25 February, 2015
enter didn't work, hmmmm. so I load song and hit edit beat grid. I hit x to mark start of downbeat. then move grids to proper BPM. and go thru song slightly adjusting when needed until it gets to the transition part, once I find the downbeat of new BPM I place another x to begin new BPM and adjust grid lines to proper marks. I play song till end making grids are properly lined after everything is complete I hit save, or enter, neither one worked, so confused hmmm Hopefully I explained that well enough....

Yeah that was a thorough enough explanation. The last thing I can think is that your files are read only which would not let you save information to the file.

Check whether or not the files are read only and if they are disable that.
MrFreeze 11:49 PM - 25 February, 2015
Forgive me still kinda new to this. How do I check if they are read? Appreciate all the help.
DJ Compiler 12:04 AM - 26 February, 2015
If you're on a PC you can right click on the files from within the File Explorer and select properties. Then at the bottom of the tab marked "General" you'll see a check box for "Read-only" make sure that it is unchecked.

I'm not sure how to do it on Mac but I imagine its similar and if not you can probably google it.

if the file is read only. it should show a padlock icon beside the file in serato
DJ Compiler 6:03 AM - 26 February, 2015
The padlock is for locking the beatgrids. The read only I'm referring to is handled by the operating system itself. If the beat grids were locked he wouldn't be able to edit them at all.

Would definitely be good to lock the grids when you get them where you want them. You can do this by Ctrl + Clicking the square to the farthest left of each song.

Perhaps you accidentally used 'slip' instead of 'adjust'? This would explain only the last grid marker is right after saving....

I know that padlock u speak of. Ur right. But there is two types of padlock. One that shows up initially if the file is read only. The second one u speak of is a black padlock. The other is blue

Oh okay. Thanks for the clarification
MrFreeze 4:54 PM - 26 February, 2015
I really appreciTe all the input guys!! On the road right now so can't check on that. But I do know about the blue lock. Still haven't found anything about read only for Mac but looking Compiler
MrFreeze 1:30 PM - 28 February, 2015
Actually here is a funny thing coming back to roos anyway so it appears as tho they are not read so I'm good there. whats going on is whether I slip or adjust the WHOLE beat grid is moving hmmmm Bug maybe???
DJ Compiler 5:38 PM - 28 February, 2015
Very strange. Not much else I can suggest. You'll need to open a help request with Serato staff. Just click support at the top of the screen to begin.
MrFreeze 5:55 PM - 28 February, 2015
Thanks will do. I've been having issues with serato DJ since I updated to Yosemiti on my Mac anyway. Definately sending a help ticket. Thanks again
