TTM 57 MKll annoying delay and low volume issues

iamDjWahdo 2:22 PM - 30 May, 2015
I recently purchased the 57MKll and used it at a few gigs. I experienced a delay when cueing music prefade. I cue a track in the headphones to where its synced nicely and when I go to fade it in to the house output I notice that its slightly off but enough to "erk my nerves".
If I were to do the reverse and sync my tracks visually using the track beat grid and then fade it in I would have no problem but if I were to put the headphones back on and listen to the mix I would notice that it is actual offbeat when listening to it through the headphone cue.
The mixers headphone volume also plays very low and needs to be turned up past midway to get a desired volume which has never been the case in any of my other Rane mixers.
Serato lets get this fixed right away please. I want to use this expensive piece of equipment as soon as possible.
Am I alone?

Hey Wahdo,

Where is the USB audio buffer in Setup set to?
If you lower this does it fix your issue?

I dropped it from 5 to 2 while practicing at home. Ive tried it at 1 at home and it seems to go away but I havent played a whole gig with it at 1. I fear operating a party utilizing that setting. I use a 2.53ghz Intel core i5 Macbook pro 15" and I figured I should be ok but it seems from other posts that PC are doing better. Im doing a small event tonight and I am going to try it out at 1. Ive never experienced a music drop out with any of my Serato software and would like to avoid it at this stage in the game..

So last thursday I had to DJ a comedy show and figured Id try my 57MKII again and try to configure it at this venue. While playing preshow music with 2ms latency a crackling sound started to manifest while the track was playing. The sound was horrible and it started out really low and progressively got worse. I switched to internal and no change. I switch to the other channel with a different song and still no change. I switched the latency to 5ms still no change. The "noise" existed on both channels. All was well for about an hour before this came about.
I had to switch to a premix on my ipad while I quit the program and reloaded it. About 20 minutes later the sound returned and was loader than ever.
I cant afford for this to happen to me when doing a party/ event. I returned my 57ttm MKII to the store. I really hope that they fix the bugs in this issue because I really liked the mixer but...
I was using my cdj 1000 turntables.

Another Note: The latency issue was less noticeable at 2ms yes but very noticeable when i switched to 5ms which made it very difficult for me to mix at 5ms latency.

My guess is you are running 10.8 on your computer?
There is a known distortion issue with 10.8 and Serato DJ with the MK11.
Try updating your OS to Yosemite.

Dude i got a TTM mkII and i use Beats Pro headphones, if i were to turn mine to half i'd blow my eardrums man, just turning up t 3 seems soooo loud!

Have you got your cue sliders / dials in the right position for full output (i assume so but have to ask)

Also i've had no latency problems, To my way of thinking latency shouldn't effect this at all as the main and cue signals are both being processed simultaneously. What does your main mix run to? directly to powered monitors? via XLR? TRS? RCA?

Had mine for a month and it performs like a dream!

Also check your channel gains. If your channel gains are set really low, then you will get a lower overall headphone output volume.

Is there an issue with El Captain and the 57MK2??? Because I'm experiencing bad latency after about an hour of play time. I have to either reboot Serato DJ 1.8.0 or power the 57 off then back on. I've download the new race control panel and synced it with the 57 but still have the problem. MacBook Pro SSD El captain 10.8. Any suggestions???

Sorry I should have explained what the link was referencing in my last post. It explains how to install multiple versions of Serato DJ.

I bought the Rane 57 MK2 a year ago as a back up and started using it 7 months ago and it's been hell. I have been experiencing the exact same things. Slight delay, crackle noise which I thought my speakers were messed up. I updated everything and it still gives me problems. I've also noticed I'm having trouble hearing a speaker when I have it hooked up in booth channel. I also get feedback when I use speaker adapters if I had to hook up rca cables because of not having xlr cables. Did you ever get these problems on your mixer fixed?? I'm probably going to start the process to get it looked at. I saved up to get this mixer and it upsets me that I'm experiencing these issues. I get better results from a 50 dollar mixer that I have been using while this one sits in the box it came in. Any feedback would be helpful.
