Numark NS7 II Up-Fader Issues

lawrence567 12:29 PM - 9 May, 2016
Guys,

Wondering if any of you have had similar?
Or can offer a solution..
I have a Numark NS7 II, currently it's working other than 1 fault.. channel 2, when you try to push the up-fader all the way up, it cut's the sound on the second to top line (so you can't go to max volume on that channel). If you push it all the way up, it will cut-out, but if you tap near the top of the up-faders it'll come back on, sadly the unit's out of warranty & there is nobody nearby i can send it too to get repaired or looked at... any suggestions?
I'm going to try and use a different channel, but would like to fix if possible.

Thanks,
Psythik 10:05 PM - 9 May, 2016
Unfortunately the upfaders on the NS7 II aren't nearly as easy to clean/replace as the crossfader. If you're not handy with a soldering gun then I'd contact Numark and get a quote.

This happened to my Channel 1 upfader. It seems like it's not making contact. I have to push it to the left for it to kick in. My solution has been to just switch to using Channels 3 and 4 now instead. Basically, I gave up on 1 and 2. The Filter and EQ pots on 1 and 2 already got super loose anyway so it was refreshing to switch to 3 and 4. Now 3 and 4 pots are getting loose so it's just about time to use my replacement plan to get them all fixed. I'm going to try to see if they will put some upgraded pots and faders in when they do it, hopefully I can make this happen.
I love my NS7-II but they really skimped on the pots and faders.

Man!!!!!! I thought I was the only one with this problem. So........any solutions!!!!! I think Numark need to recall all the NS7 II and fix them up for free. I never use my upfaders for scratching, but my upfadbers are not working properly.

Hey guys,

This isn't good to hear, please open a help request from the link below even though it could potentially be a hardware issue.

Having the same issue as well, started with Lines 1/2 so I switched to 3/4 now it seems line 4 is going as well. Has anyone heard back from NuMark reg. if it's possible to send in for repair and cost$$ as mine is out of warranty.

Same here ! Chan 1/2 are both in needs of love taps when it's maxed out. Also I sent an issue report regards the hardware and waiting to see what they say.

Attempted to use channels 3 & 4 but videos would not work on those channels. Did not put much effort into figuring it out . Is there a way to make video show on those channels?

See the response I got from Numark:

Thank you for reaching out to us. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you!

This unit would have to be sent to a service center to be evaluated. This is not a common problem with the NS7II. The NS7III contains similar Up faders. If your product requires service please see the following list of recommended authorized service centers.

BS!!

My Response to Numark:

Jahmar, you stated that this is not a common problem. I beg to differ, as there are a lot of NS7ll owners on the Serato website with the exact same problem. I do not DJ using my upfaders and they get minimal usage. My unit is protected by a DeckSaver when stored or transported. It will be very costly for me to send this unit to a service center as there are none in my area. Doing so would also risk doing more damage to my unit. Is there a way to make the video show on channels 3 & 4? Also, as the owner of the NS7 and NS7ll, Numark just assured me that I will not be an owner of the NS7lll if in fact the Upfaders are the same. This is a great product until you have a problem with the one thing that is not serviceable.

Having the same issues. Started with channel 2 and now has migrated to channel 4. Called Numark and since it's out of warranty they gave me the number to a repair facility, Techni-Serve, 877-769-0093.

Basically how they handle it is:

1. You pay for shipping to and from their place.
2. You authorize up to $250 of a repair. If the cost to repair will be more than $250, they will call for authorization. If you decline, you pay for shipping back.

Not really sure how much shipping is since it weighs as mIcy as a tank. Hope this helps.

And don't forget the next step of doing it all over again as Numark uses shiet components that will inevitably break. After my 4th Numark X-Fader I got an innofader. I will try to replace the upfaders with innofaders if possible. Sucks that the center of the EQ/Filter knobs wore out after a month of use too. Good work on numark not acknowledging their shortcomings with this super awesome controller made out of super-cheap low quality components that instantly break after minimal usage.....

And that strip search is like throwing the tonearm on the record, you never know where it's going to land. "It landed where I intended, oh no it bounced back to the beginning/end of record"......

I think they should change their name to NuShart as when you think it's a good controller/fart it's actually made out of $h!*

I had this issue, had the NS7ii packed away in it's flight case for ages and used it this week and the issue with the upfader has gone. I used a camera blowing tool I think that helped. It is probably just some dust stuck there.

I quit Serato and switched to Rekordbox & DJM-900NXS2 + DDJ-XP1 + 2x1200mk5. Will probably try to harvest the direct drive + platters to try to make direct drive portable turntables. Totally done with Serato + Numark. I reccoment Pioneer way more. Make the switch you will not regret!

Yeah mine are definitely shot. Can't practice yo cuts on those faders unfortunately! Just so you know though, Rane is now the same company as Numark. I am boycotting all INMusic from now on as I have had quality problems with Akai hardware as well. Good luck. I do like the Nexus2 mixer and it is compatible with serato dvs out of the box, so at least my control vinyl is still useful. The AT-LP1240 is a pretty good TT for the price. Better torque than the 1200. I would not like to be limited to Serato and I don't thing the TWELVE works with other software.

The AT-LP1240's are the best. I have a pair. Very good super OEM TT.
