On several occasions my while sitting dormant (i.e. not playing any files) Serato 1.9.6 uexpectly just quit. My system requirement are:

MAC OS Sierra Version 10.12.5
MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2010)

Do you have any corrupt files?

How long are you letting Serato sit for? I would contact support and send them the crash logs. What hardware are you using?

Dj Tecniq thanks for your response! I do have some corrupted files but don't play them. To be honest I've always had then and never crashed before, but seeing that you mentioned that I will get of them. I've just sent the crash log technical support.

Hey Drock91

I had similar issues start about 4 months ago. Whilst I didn't have any corrupt tracks in my library, my V2 database had become corrupted and this was causing the issue. I had 3 or 4 random shut downs during gigs. There is no way of checking that it is V2 causing the issue, other than replacing it.

I removed it and let it build a new one and haven't had any problems since. Probably worth a go. There are instructions on this Web site of the way to do this. It is very easy to do.

Just so you know, the corrupt tracks don't have to be played to cause you an issue.

Thanks Cwite. I will remove the few corrupted files. Was it a lot of work to remove and rebuild?

Not at all. Basically you make a new crate with every single track in your data Base (but not the corrupt ones). I called it Master Crate.

Close serato, then find the V2 doc in your system folders. Rename it to something like "v2 backup" just as a precaution. Reopen serato and it will realise that there is no V2 and will set about building a new one. This is based on the tracks in the crates (hence making a master crate). Once it's done you no longer need the master crate.

It's that easy! The only thing it will permanently mess up is the "added" column. Your new V2 date becomes the added date. Not a problem unless you have some Auto Crates using this option. Luckily I didn't!
